The man who started a peace foot-march from Seppa to Itanagar, covering a distance of 225 km to protest against corruption.
We have all seen a photo of a man who walked 225 km to protest against corruption in East Kameng district, but the majority of the Arunachal public don’t know about his life and his other social works,
So here are some brief details about him and how his journey started.
Sol Dodum About:
The Social Activist Shri. Sol Dodum‘s full name is Solung Dodum, and he is the son of Late Taka Dodum from Circle Bameng in the East Kameng district.
He is the present Gram Panchayat of 07-Mlorang Village in Bameng West, and the former General Secretary of ASTCWA (All Seppa Town Colonies Welfare Association).
Sol Dodum’s present address is in Vikash colony, New Seppa, East Kameng district, Arunchal Pradesh.
Sol Dodum, Social Works and Achievements:
He has taken part in many social activities and projects like donations, participation, and raising his voice against many malpractices in east Kameng, Seppa. Some of his social activity highlights are :
-His support for Kampu Lollen Orphanage, visiting and supporting orphanage children.
He made lots of contributions toward the Kampu Lollen Orphanage and is still supporting them.
-He raised voice against overcharging rate of LPG in East Kameng, Seppa.
In July 2021, when he was General Secretary of ASTCWA (All Seppa Town Colonies Welfare Association),
he raised his voice against the LPG distributors in the district to desist from overcharging on the prescribed rate of LPG and threatened legal consequences if they continued the malpractice.
He also asked the public of the district not to be intimidated by the statements of the LPG distributors.
After his constant efforts, today the LPG distributors of Seppa are distributing LPG cylinders at a discounted fare price.
-Under his leadership and Direction EKFA won Discipline Trophy.
On December 16, 2017, under his leadership and direction, the EKFA (East Kameng Football Association) won the Discipline Trophy at the 16th Tadar Tang Football Tournament, and then later he handed over the trophy to Seppa DC Shri. Rajeev Takuk Gaaling.
Why Sol Dodum Started a Peaceful Rally in Seppa
On April 12, 2022, he raised his voice against Seppa PHE and WS department for not repairing damaged roads and drains in the town, so he conducted a peaceful rally on April 12, 2022, from LBSV School (Lal Bahadur Shashtri Vidhyalaya School) to DC Office Seppa.
But on the morning of April 12, around 8 a.m., Shri Kalley Lapung, accompanied by 13 people, blocked his vehicle near the New Seppa Hanging Bridge and attacked them with lethal weapons.
They damaged his car and assaulted him and his friends, who were in the car with the motive of blocking their way to join proposed peaceful rally scheduled to be held on the same day.
Later, they filed an FIR in Seppa PS and Case No. 13/2022 u/s 323/324/341/427/34 IPC was registered immediately. On the same day, four people, namely Kalley Lapung, Sasung Lapung, Changrang Lapung, and Repa Riang, were arrested, and the case was forwarded to the honorable court on April 13, 2022. They were granted bail by the Hon’ble court on April 13, 2022.
He repeated complaints against the PHE and WS departments, but the district Deputy Commissioner allegedly went unheard, He decided to start his journey against corrupt officers and the system.
How Sol Dodum Journey started:
After repeated complaints by him to the PHE and WS departments, but no action was taken, so finally he decided to launch a peaceful rally from Seppa to Itanagar (225 km) against the PHE and WS Department, Seppa Division, for unclean and unhygienic water supply by the department to the public, to make his voice heard to the state government.
–On April 15, April 2022, at 8:30 AM, he started his journey alone from Seppa to Itanagar (225km) on foot-marched, but later joined my two brothers, Goma Loffa and Anand. After walking 63 km, they stayed the night in Rilloh.
–On April 16, they continued their peaceful rally from Rilloh and then, after reaching Pakke Kessang, they were joined by other people.
Together, they reached Gotopu village at night, where the good, kind hearted people of Gotopu Village, invited them and gave them food and a place to stay for the night.
–On April 17, they continued their journey from Gotopu Village, and many other good minded people and youth joined the foot-march. They walked the whole night without sleep till the morning of April 18th.
–On April 18, they reached Itanagar.
After 4 days, the brave man, Shri. Sol Dodum, made it through his corruption march from Seppa to Itanagar, a 225-kilometer foot march against corruption by the PHE & WS department in East Kameng District.

After reaching Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, The social activist has now pledged to stage a protest at the Tennis Court, IG Park, in the state capital till his demands are met.
What are Sol Dodum’s demands?
1) immediately provide a healthy and purified water supply to Seppa public.
2. Immediately transfer of Deputy Commissioner, East Kameng District.
3. Immediately posting of a full-fledged Executive Engineer, PHE & WS Department at Seppa Division.
4. Constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case registered at Seppa PS case no.13/2022 against Shri Bharat Sonam, EE PHE & Water Supply Department, and his henchmen for attacking the social activist at Seppa.
5. Departmental action (suspension) against Shri Bharat Sonam EE, PHE & WS Department for attacking an activist, unlawfully disturbing and interrupting the permitted protest rally on 12-04-2022 (democratic right),
6. SIC case register and investigation for corruption in WPT, Nyari Welly Model Village (LaiMoya) project, ‘Kuchi Nalla” water supply project, and WTP Macha (Seppa) project.
7. Magisterial enquiry into recent Seppa Town road cement refilling.
